Ireland Trip

Dan and I booked our Ireland trip for this summer!  We'll be there for a little over 2 weeks.  We're going to start in Dublin, meet up with Shannon, then work our way southeast to County Waterford, then south to Cork and Kerry, then southwest to the lower Shannon.  We plan on visiting a lot of smaller towns along the way, and we are going to stay mostly at Bed and Breakfasts to get a real feel for the culture.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  My parents were able to come in from St. Louis with my two little brothers, so we spent Thanksgiving at my aunt and uncle's house with them.  Erin and Tom and baby Elizabeth came as well.  Meanwhile, Shannon enjoyed a nice American Thanksgiving meal in England.

World Champions!

Yeah Cardinals! After 24 years, we finally win another world series. Needless to say, the Cardinals fans in Austin (meaning Nancy, Dean, the girls, Erin, Tom, Dan, and I, along with two of our friends) were pretty pumped on Friday. We watched the game at Nancy and Dean's with Erin, Tom, and two of our Austin friends who are from Indiana...close enough to St. Louis I guess, because they were big fans. The neighbors heard about all the fun, though, and decided to join us. Apparently we went a little too overboard by shooting off fireworks (that would be Joe and Dean), because the cops made a stop by the house. They were friendly about it, and just gave a little wave.

I have to say I am jealous of those of you who go to sit in the box seats for the game (Mickey, Julie, Dave...what luck).

Shannon!

I just got off the phone with Shannon, who sounds like she is having a great time in England.  Her cell phone is really clear; it sounds like you are talking to somebody local.  Anyway, Shannon and I are planning on spending at least 1 week in Ireland this summer if anyone is interested.  The compromise was Dan could buy a new car if he took me to Ireland- a good deal, I think :)

Other than that, it sounds like Shannon as a lot of trips lined up...I guess that's one of the great advantages to living in Europe for a year!

St. Louis

Dan and I just back back from a wonderful weekend in St. Louis. We got to see some great people and places we haven't seen in awhile.

The weekend started with a 7 am flight out of Austin to St. Louis. We spent Friday relaxing, and then we went to my cousin Megan's wedding Friday night. Dan and I got a hotel room downtown, right across from the church, so that we could take part in the festivities later without worrying about driving :) The ceremony was gorgeous- she got married at The Old Cathedral in downtown St. Louis (right by the arch). The reception was at Randall Gallery, an art gallery on 14th street. One word to describe the reception- CLASSY. One of the highlights of the wedding was that she booked the same band Dan and I used for our wedding- Phoenix. It was fun listening and dancing to the same music that Dan and I danced to at our wedding. They even dedicated a song to us :) The wedding ended with martinis at the hotel bar and a comfty hotel bed on the 17th floor overlooking downtown. Too bad I partied a little too much and didn't get to enjoy the view...

On Saturday, we got to eat some St. Louis food- Pointer's- my uncle's pizza, sandwhiches, and pasta place. We spent the evening with Dan's family and later made a trip to get some St. Louis brew downtown- Schlafly's!

Sunday brunch was spent with my family, more relaxing, and then a flight home to Austin...

We didn't have quite enough time to pick up Imo's...feel free to mail some our way :)

Baby!

Dan and I have a new niece (from Erin and Tom).  Her name is Elizabeth Shannon.  She was born on June 22, 2006, weighing 6 pounds, 1 ounce.  She is now almost three months old and adorable. I am her godmother and my brother, Kyle, is her godfather.

UT vs. Ohio State

Well, today is the huge football game: UT (#2) against Ohio State (#1). Dan was offered tickets, but they were going for 650 a piece so we are going to bbq and watch the game at Nancy and Dean's tonight...while Dean enjoys himself from the stands.

Welcome to our new webpage!

Hi! Now that Dan has set up a user friendly webpage I can actually post some things. Right now, I am back at school teaching 4th grade. I work between 11 and 12 hours a day, so my life pretty much consists of working out, teaching, dinner, and sleep. Weekends are a bit more interesting :) Because of the long days, Dan, who works a very short 8 or 9 hours a day (jk Dan), does a lot of the cooking and stuff. I do have a new niece to keep me entertained, Elizabeth Shannon. She is about 3 months old and adorable, although Dan is still frightened to hold her. I also spend a lot of time with Nancy, Dean, and my cousins Sarah, Emily, and Katie. They have a fantastic pool and many fun neighbors! Dan and I are hoping to go to the Guster concert on September 16th...any interested parties let us know...if you live in St. Louis it's only a measly 900 miles to Austin (and only a two hour plane flight). The concert is on the same weekend as Austin City Limits, an entire weekend filled with awesome big name bands...but we're just sticking with Guster.
